Sunart Community Company : Registered charity number SCO39640 : Company number SC293485
Sunart Community Company was formally incorporated in November 2005 and set up to allow the acquisition of various fishing and recreation areas by the local community. Membership is open to all residents in the Sunart Community Council area and the Company is a registered charity. Full details of how we are organised, minutes of our meetings, etc can be found on the Administration pages.
One of our main prioirities is to be able to support other local groups, and have set up the Sunart Common Good Fund to distribute revenue from our community Hydro-Electric scheme. You can find out more details here.
The fixed assets of the Company include the fishing rights on the Strontian and Polloch Rivers and Loch Doilet, the Strontian village green, and two areas within the Strontian community woodland. We have an active programme of keeping public assets under local control - see our Projects pages for more details of this and other significant community work.
The fisheries owned and leased by Sunart Community Company are now operated under a joint management agreement in conjunction with Strontian Angling Association. Habitat and access improvements and the restocking programme are ongoing. Fishing permits are available through a variety of local outlets. More details can be found on the Angling pages.
